Two goals from Kamara yesterday and two goals today from
BWP would be cause to break out a dogfish head beer, the
official beer sponsor of the Union.

When whoever (Dan?) sends in the corrections to Mark be sure to include Cassar getting sent off.

I found the following scoring errors:

Montreal - NY Red Bull
Missing Montreal sub 57m Nigel Reo-Coker in for Eric Alexander

LA - Seattle
The final score was 3-1 for LA
Missing Seattle goal 1m Chad Barrett (Erik Friberg)
Missing LA goal 47m Robbie Keane (Giovani dos Santos, A.J. DeLaGarza)
Missing LA goal 64m Giovani dos Santos (Robbie Keane, Sebastian Lletget)
Missing Seattle Yellow Card 38m Eric Friberg
Missing substitution Seattle 4m Cristian Roldan in for Chad Barrett
Missing substitution Seattle 60m Oniel Fisher in for Thomas Bedinelli
Missing substitution Seattle 77m Darwin Jones in for Dylan Remick
Missing substitution LA 69m Alan Gordon in for Giovani dos Santos
Missing substitution LA 89m Ignacio Maganto in for Sebastian Lletget
Missing substitution LA 90+2m Rafael Garcia in for Gyasi Zardes

As far as Cassar being sent off, that did not appear in the box score. I maintain that the official box score should be used as our official stats. I'll mention that to Mark, and let him decide. (But thanks for pointing that out.)

One of the problems with doing that (and there are a few) is what you do with coach's yellow cards. They are often not apparent, and may not reflect in the box score insofar that we don't always see the reds.

Dan, coaches ejections haven't shown up in the box score for forever. Mark already decided - by how he scores it - that for coaches it goes by what happened in real life.

I watch all the games by myself so I see them all, and I'm not the only one obviously that watches more than one MLS match per weekend, others here see them too so we don't miss when a 'coach' is sent off. We do have to send it in though, and have for years.

Maintaining that Cassar shouldn't get -2 because it's not in the box score goes against the standard, since look at the past -2's coaches have got this season (and none of those were in the 'official' box score, either) ...

Have to be consistent, at least through the end of the season and until a future season has a MFLS rule change where coaches don't get negative points for cards - since it'll never show up in the 'official' MLS box score.

I agree with Matt. We've established a consistent pattern of recognizing coach ejections even though they do not appear in the boxscore. We should continue to do so until this can be addressed in the MFLS rulebook. Honestly, I think we should not enforce these in the future as the idea of the coach position is less about the individual and more about the team. That position's point potential should only be linked to team performance.

In other words 'we' either need to say coaches only get W/L/T and don't get negative points for cards since they NEVER show up in the 'official' MLS box score or we need to come up with a community system that accounts for all cards coaches get and send it in to Mark since the scoring shows that coaches are supposed to get negative points for cards, but again they NEVER (this is not something new or just this case) show up in the 'official' MLS box score.

If that's how we've always done it and that's what Mark wants to do, then I'm cool.

Part of me gets these hives thinking about discussions we've had in years past when an assist should have been awarded and was not, or vice versa. Then the MLS box score would be changed, and changed again, and it became a moving target. I wanted to make my tournament updates, but as soon as I did all the work to make the updates I'd need to change them again after the scoring changed in the MFLS site. Man, I hated doing that double and triple work.

I know this coach's thing isn't exactly the same, but it takes me back to that in my mind.

So that's why I do my "audit" on Monday mornings, so Mark can make his updates right away and I can get to work on all my tournament scores. I don't have to wait some indefinite period of time for all the updates to surface. And, of course, it's one way I can help out.

Yup, I 'get it', you have to separate the two though.

Very different from the days when MLS wouldn't award an obvious assist and there would be different box scores with different assist rulings and people only look out for their own score so would flood Mark with 'corrections' ... The earlier years too, when MLS would award the assist to the wrong player or just a completely bogus assist to a 'star' player to pad his stats when it was a clear non-assist (that still happens sometimes but we go by what's official - for the players) ...

Coaches thing is entirely different, for all intents and purposes they've all been documented in our [R] threads - and we HAVE TO document them, since MLS doesn't do it.

Also, because I'm very anti-flooding Mark with corrections that others have already sent in, has anyone sent in the Cassar ejection yet?

I sent it to him. I got a note back that everything was updated. I didn't check it specifically, but not I see that the red card isn't in the stats. I'll send him a reminder now.
