Man, they're talking about a 3 month suspension for Dempsey. I laughed when I saw it, but a 3 month suspension for destruction of property is in US Soccer's bylaws. Yikes.

So he's out for the gold cup, that sucks.

Source? If that's true that's huge news. Suspension from anything US Soccer related? That would be a big loss for the USMNT this Gold Cup...

Unless you're in the group that believes we play better without him

I think we'll be in the gold cup final either way but with Clint we
have added insurance to get there and to win it.

Souces- multiple, SI, Sounders Blog, etc. It would be a USSF suspension, so I don't know how it would affect his MLS status. It's a bylaw thing- physical contact/damaging personal property. I'd argue that the referee's card is actually USSF property, but then you've got the problem of him destroying the USSF's property, and that certainly isn't any better- it might just be a loophole to help him skate.

I still think Dempsey's the best attacker in the pool. He can score it with both feet, head, and every way a striker can score. He also has the balls and gumption to try every time. I understand the critique about the way he and Bradley play together, but I think most of that came from the World Cup. Altidore and AJ both got hurt, and I think a lot of the critics discount how important their absence was. It would be a significant loss, for sure.

Agree, one of the best if not the best player we have in my
opinion. Fearless and scores clutch goals.

Woke up and had 3 texts from friends who wouldn't know what the USOC was even if I wrote them a children's book called "USOC" ... because of Dempsey they know now. Sure it's the same for a lot of your average Joe Sports Fan's.

Guess at least some more people know about the USOC now?

Dempsey brought more attention to the cup than the USSF has in decades, if anything he should get a reward.

and the referee should be in jail, anyone that incompetent is a danger to society, in whatever they're doing.

Now that I've had some time to think about it, my guess is he's banned from the USOC next year, and he doesn't get a suspension for MLS or Gold Cup (CONCACAF) because they're sanctioned by different entities and it's outside their purview. Now, if something similar happened during WCQ, then I could see a FIFA ban where he was gone for several months for club and country (see Suarez) since they have sway over pro and national team competitions.

If that's the case, I think Dempsey's move was worth it for the comedic value. I also think that would be a fair punishment for something you just can't do.

Yes except USSF is the head of the USMNT. They can
suspend him which means he isn't on the roster for the Gold
Cup.

Really bad example as the USMNT captain too

I like what Dempsey did. Shows he actually cares, those that are uncaring and weak don't act.

Though maybe it's just me, I once was ejected 4 times in a 7 game span in summer league (AAU) basketball back in the day so ... but that's because I cared about what was happening, not just out there to be out there.

I think the USSF deserves a red card for treating the USOC
like a Mickey Mouse tournament. Tonight I get to watch the
NYCFC vs Cosmos to see who philly plays next on you tube,
and if that's not available I can check the game updates on
Twitter. Golly gee wilikers that is awesome.

Eh...the picture's good. The crowd's solid. The turf is AWFUL. 5/6 starters for NYCFC. They're meat against Toronto this weekend.

I mean, seriously- most indoor places have better turf. Sheesh.
