I wonder if they could have put McCarthey on for
Casey at the end?

Wow, that seems silly! Goalie change way too late! But we
shall see!
Ex Rhino goalie vs Ex Rhino goalie.
I predict an ex Rhino goalie will win and an Ex Rhino goalie
will Lose!
Go Rhinos!

Maybe Chester can be the permanent home of the USOC Final? Never have to worry about a team having HFA ...

Well, I guess all there is to say is that ending totally sucked but
third time will be the charm for us next year.

Next year is year 7 for the Union, it will be lucky 7. Proud of my
team making it to two consecutive USOC finals.

i must admit, i was only interested in the outcome of the game because i was eagerly anticipating norm's reaction (either gleeful or tragic). i did not care who actually won. in fact, i never cared much for this tournament despite its historic pedigree, though the old pick 'em Arrows ran did make it more interesting. that aside, i want to say a heartfelt "cheers" to you norm for your positive post-game thinking. seriously, too many sports fans nowadays equate losing a game (even a championship game) with spiritual death. i live in alabama, and if you walked into a bar here last week you would have thought the world was about to end after the tide lost to ole miss. grown men were weeping in their beers, lamenting their empty lives, and calling for God (AKA Bear Bryant) to just go ahead and bring on the end of times. growing up with my dad, it was no different. he is a hardcore steelers fan, and there were times when i was a child when a pittsburgh playoffs loss equated to about $1,500 property damage, a trip to the hospital (usually a cut caused by broken glass) and yet another of my mom's ultimatums that my dad cut back on the drinking (he never did). even when the steelers won, he would be unhappy about the "way" they won (every coach since Chuck Noll has been unworthy to wear the headset according to dad). i love sports, but sports (and being a fan) are supposed to be fun enterprises. if you can't have a positive attitude about your team (no matter how much they SHOULD make you suffer with their futility sometimes) then what is the point of following them in the first place? i just don't get the fans who seem to have so much vitriol after a big loss or a losing season (or 10). how can you hate a team you profess to love - even if they are terrible? especially young fans seem incapable of wallowing with a team through a mire of mediocre seasons (though they will be on the waiting list for season tickets when the team is finally good). take it from me, a lifelong Bucs fan (mom had season tickets and would take me and my brothers to the big sombrero while dad watched the steelers at home), not only should fans stay positive when their team loses, but they should EMBRACE the losses. that way the wins will be so much sweeter if (and hopefully when) they come. i can die happy because the Bucs won a Super Bowl in 2003. i don't need another one, though it would be nice, of course. honestly, i didn't even need that one, though it was very nice, of course. meanwhile, alabama fans are suicidal because they will not win their umpteenth national title. maybe my outlook is just a psychological ruse to avoid feeling depressed. but, even if that is true, isn't that a good trick to play on one's self? i think so. i believe if it ain't broke, don't fix it. and even if it is broke - what the hell - don't fix it either.
