Arsenal wins the FA Cup in back to back seasons, Gunners
are back and so is the Union. Watch out DC, we're looking to
repeat what we did last week with an away upset.

Good Luck Sir. If you need me I'll be at RFK to see if United can get revenge and remind PHL of the proper pecking order. Rolfe is rested and I'm sure DC is grouchy.

Only two weeks ago I brushed off the idea of a rivalry. It's on now.

Definitely dude, these rivalry matches are the best of the
regular season (and playoffs).

Sorry to disappoint- I was venting my spleen on twitter last night with the DFW beat writer and the backup PBP guy for FCD. I took umbrage with classifying Loyd's 2nd yellow card as 'naive'. Plenty of data out there that he skates on that foul last night. Cardable, yes. Obvious, no.

Aside from that, they missed Fab and were generally lousy. On top of the ejection, Loyd was poor. Acosta was really starting to play well in midfield, and Bekker is a poor replacement...dribbles way too much. Didn't see much of Tesho or Hollingshead last night. They're coping horribly with high pressure these days. There's plenty to vent about, but I wasn't very confident about Dallas points heading into this one. Diaz only made my lineup out of pure homerism...and it kills me when they they rack up points on the road (Hello Houston) while they rot on my bench. I'd pick them to beat SJE next week if Castillo were healthy, but minus that, I'm dubious.

Ranting on twitter instead of here?! What's next, leaving MFLS for the 'official' (bandwagon) fantasy game?

This is the first week I was correct with my FCD players (putting them on the bench) ...

Coming into the this week:

Hollingshead 12 pts this year, I've had him all season and started him 5 times, has -1 pt for me.

Diaz 26 pts, I've had him all season, started him 8 times, has 8 pts for me.

Since this match still hasn't started, and to help Norm sell the rivalry - to make up for the shot I took about the playoffs ...

I alluded to this a couple weeks back but Philly and DC actually play eachother even:

All-Time Regular season in 13 matches each has won 5, with 3 draws, and each has scored 16 goals in the series. You can't get much more even than that.

Plus the two USOC meetings, they were 4th round so just before things get really serious but they've met twice in knockout games with each club winning once.

The only other teams clubs Philly has met at least twice in elimination or playoff games are:

USOC: Harrisburg City (x2) and counting 2015, Rochester (x2) ... which obviously those can't be major rivals.

MLS Cup Playoffs: There's the two matches against Houston but that's not a rivalry.

What isn't here is the Red Bulls, the proximity is there but they already have the Atlantic Cup with DC and obviously every year that goes by NYC will be a bigger rival. Being another clubs 3rd (at best) 'rival' isn't really a rivalry. I'd pass on trying to sell that.

DC, however, that's possible, obviously needs some meaningful games (playoffs, more USOC, etc) but a foundation is there to build on. All comes down to Philadelphia becoming good, DC's trophy case is unmatched, even if it's not against DC the Union winning some trophies is probably the #1 thing that could get a real rivalry kick started. DC might take notice then and start caring about Philly.

TFC - SJ is underway, players are slipping and the ball is skipping. Should make for some interesting chances.

Should have been clearer in my post, it will be rivalry playoff
match this year. It is philly's destiny to play DC.
