Lee Nguyen sat out of training last week in protest
of NER's unwillingness to negotiate a new deal. The
Revs responded by benching him vs. RBNJ, the first
time that a healthy Nguyen has not started since
2012. His $175,000 contract was just negotiated
ahead of the 2014 season.

Heck with this, Luis is right if the curse plaguing the Union is to
be broken I'll have to do it myself. Rivero sits, union prediction
is a draw. Damn straight.

I'm going with the hot hands this week even if
they're on the road and/or have tough matchups.
Rivero is on my bench with the other mackerels.

Soccer Mornings is a podcast from World Soccer Talk. They
talked about the Nguyen situation this morning.

I don't have him, but I think it's a mistake for anyone to not
start Rivero. Slumps end and PHI is awful but you never know.
Not tempting me enough to transfer him in

Every week there is at least one weird score with a team
highly favored to win but instead they draw or lose, it could be
the VAN-PHI game this week. After their lousy home opener I
thought philly would get pummeled at RSL but they actually
won, could be a repeat of that. Don't think they will win but
they might scratch out a draw with nothing at all to lose.

Nobody really playing folks from tonight's teams, at least not in the Brew City squads I'm tracking. Figured I'd see some starts for Zardes or Jamieson. Surprising.

love that PK save by Rimando, for two reasons.

1. because the LA broadcast put up a "1" on the score box after it, which made me laugh.

&

2. I predicted a 0-0 game.

Edu will be playing defense this Saturday and will be
shadowing Rivero. He doesn't like to play as a defender
compared to his usual midfielder position but he is good at the
role. Could be a frustrating game for Rivero...

VAN: high pressure at home, needs to win to get back on track
to playoffs, underestimating wounded opponent

PHI: no pressure, season probably already a wash (except for
USOC) and will be playing spoiler role with nothing to lose

Hmmm, might not be an easy game for the whitecaps after
all...
