And Bob, if Chicharito does come to MLS then philly has dibs,

I have a feeling that Red Bull is going to spank DC
in their house Sunday and expose DC for the
pretenders they really are this year. They're
missing Silva, Halsti, Birnbaum, and Espindola.
Arnaud isn't getting any younger and Arrieta's touch
has never been great. They have a lot of trouble
scoring goals. Look for lots of camera shots of
Olsen with that trademark scowl.

Mr. Bremen, DC is not pretending to be atop the
East, it is a reality. To do that without Fabian,
Halsti, EJ or Silva (until just recently) is no
small feat. Yes they have won a few without playing
very well but that's what good teams find a way to
do.

Okay Kofi Opare is probably a step down from
Birnbaum but Bill Hamid will have his back, Boswell
is next to him and savvy veterans Kitchen and Arnaud
in front of him. Conor Doyle and Miguel Aguilar are
largely unknown right now but are poised to break
out. This could be the week with Roy Miller and
Zubar doubtful for RBNJ, who will need to rely on
Mike Miazga and Kemar Lawrence. Welcome to RFK boys,
school is in session and Ben has a few lessons to
share.

I listened to the United Mania Podcast this morning
and one of the guys (Mike) was extremely down on how
they're playing. That inspired my post.

What a mess between the pipes in Philly.

Mbohli is gone, just read that he went back home to France.
Talk about a failed experiment, as a chemist I've seen some
bad ones but not that bad. The front office sold the fans hard
on Mbohli and he looked impressive in the world cups but the
reality is the chemistry was not there at all. We had a solid
goalie with MacMath and a #1 overall pick with Blake which
would have been good for both keepers, pushing each other
for playing time and both keepers improving as a result. But
instead we went with Mbolhi and sent MacMath on loan which
obviously was a big mistake. MacMath may not be Tim
Howard but is very solid and I remember Union CEO Nick
Sakiewicz saying Zac and Andre will be good goalkeepers
someday (gee that's not too insulting) but Mboli is another
level. Last time I believe anything from him, hopefully lesson
learned that having team chemistry is more important than
having a big name player that might be a total bust.

And I say we keep Curtin and dump Sakiewicz

I watched a US game with Grant Wahl once about 10
years ago. Sakiewicz was in NY then. Wahl confided a
lot of cool info in us- naked players fighting in
the showers and such. One thing Wahl said was
that Sakiewicz isn't a very nice man. So based on
that I agree with you, Norm.

In fairness, part of the Mbohli problem was timing,
I think. IIRC Philly was at the top of the
allocation list and then MLS signed Mbohli so they
had to make a decision whether to take him or pass.

I agree with your point Fred, it was bad timing as well. And
Wahl was right on the money about Sakiewicz, you can tell
from interviews that the guy is a total condescending jerk and I
wish we could replace him as our CEO.

Plus that comment he made about MacMath was a slap in the
face to Zac and also the philly fans. Zac has always worked
hard and done a solid job in goal and is a fan favorite here.
Wish we could get him back sooner but we'll have to hope that
McCarthy and Blake can help us get things back on track in
the meantime.

I read the MLSsoccer article. Mbohli is like Jonah.
They threw him overboard. Maybe that will help the
group. I think Blake's your man for this year,
though.

Anyone else noticing the Prediction League standings on the left? I'm listed as first overall now (and I've been terrible so far this year) ...
