Idle: DCU, LAG
No USOC games this week. Quarterfinals next
week.
With popular LA and DC idle this week mfls
teams' bench strength will be tested. Many
players on the remaining teams are still gone
to their national teams for the Gold Cup.
Toronto is particularly depleted. I'm going to
miss Robby Keane this week. He's picked up 32
points for me in three weeks. Comments? Please
post below. |

Pirlo to NYC is official. There is a 100% chance I'll be at the LA-NYC game in August. Glad I have a few transfers left. |

Definitely starting Fabinho this week, should get clean sheet
points and maybe an assist or two, |

I'm wondering how NYC will do now that they are
adding Lampard and Pirlo. They have 3 of their
next 4 at the friendly confines of Yankee Stadium.
Will they be the LAG of the East? How will their
lineup shake out? David Villa has been on a tear
even without the new DP's. OTOH I'll probably
steer clear of picking up Mehdi Ballouchy. But
McNamara? He's intriguing. The narrow pitch at
home might make for more goals and assists. |

Have we determined the MFLS point value of an RBI? |

Iraola and Angeliño signed for NYC too. The club has now two
Spaniards (two Asturians and two other guys from adjacent regions
in the North on top of it), plus Jason Kreis and Andrea Pirlo. Good
attempt, NYC guys, but your attempts to lure me into a NY Yankees
franchise are futile. I keep pledging allegiance to DC. |

PS: any thoughts on the new Targeted Allocation Money thing? My
only worry is that the teams with less DP's may be more prone to
transfer it (less use for them), maybe making the fat cats fatter... |

I haven't been paying too much attention to that
yet, MLS economics make me exhausted.
But I am definitely getting weary of all the new Big
Names going to LA or one of the NY teams. I guess
Toronto is an exception to that trend. |

From how I read it, re: Targeted Allocation Money, teams that don't use it HAVE TO trade it to a team that will use it.
So how it'll work out is basically Colorado, Philly, New England, etc won't use it and they'll have to give it to LA and NYC and the latter will 'magically' have more ways to stack their rosters.
MLS has always made it up as it goes, it's gotten better since the early years but it's still laughable. |

Very laughable. It's the Dos Santos to LA rule. At least this will
allow the small teams to get something in return now for
missing out on big names. They won't trade the money for free
so I'm sure teams like RSL and NER will take a guy like Jose
Villareal from LA. |

My thoughts exactly. Hopefully, FC Dallas doesn't bungle it when they trade their TAM for pennies on the dollar. |
from Dynamo Salem on Fri 7/10 11:06 ET Reply to This Message |
Mohawks has it right. LA needs a new player, so MLS changes the rules to make it happen. |

Houston has signed Nigerian mid Rasheed Olabiyi, 24,
last played for Nigeria Premier League side Enyimba
International FC. He is eligible for selection
tonight. I'll alert Mark but he may not be
available for Week 19. |
from Cánicas AC on Fri 7/10 15:07 ET Reply to This Message |
That was exactly my initial reading, Matt. But on the other hand it
could make it easier to designate players as, for example, a third
DP, to retain them, right? |

I picked up Villa this week. By chance, so did
Phoenix TS. That makes me optimistic about his
chances for a couple of goals this week.
Very unusual for me to play an inactive defender,
Moises Hernandez. Normally I would have picked up a
defender that would play in his place but I got
tired of playing small ball. |
