Woo hoo! Thanks Cánicas AC! Now the hard part - staying ahead of you and Laws of Lalas in the final two weeks to try to hold onto 2nd place! - Pat

Pat, I think Randall may be a harder bone to chew than me. Our
only chance might be sending him a case of beer and trying to lure
him into making some subs and transfers after sampling it. But I am
afraid he has found moderation in his old age. We are in week 8
and he still has 19 transfers left!

i just can't climb into division one, which is a
testament to how tough BCFA is. last year i was
4th overall at season's end and i still did not
earn promotion. i can get there if i can win these
last two games, though my team's trajectory has
been the other way lately.

Division One

The Division One race is all but decided. Dynamo Silver Spring continued to tear up the field in week 8 and is the sole remaining undefeated team in the tournament. Wierder Bremen was its latest victim, going down 44-23. DSS is three points up on second place Top Shelf, but has a commanding 54 point lead in point difference. Top Shelf easily beat Arrows SC 37-21 to climb into second place, taking advantage of Redneck’s loss to Aviators 30-12. In the battle of the two winless teams, Sasha Juniors topped Sehome Mariners 30-10. The Mariners will be relegated to the second division for the summer season. This sets up the key game of week nine, with Wierder Bremen facing off against Sasha Juniors. Separated by a point difference of nine, the loser will likely find itself joining the Mariners in D2 next season.

Division Two

Cánicas AC handed Phoenix TS its first loss of the campaign, 22-11. The win moves Cánicas into second place and a shot at promotion next season. A win or a tie with the Shaolin Mystigods will secure a spot in D1 for the summer. Phoenix is already guaranteed promotion. CC United took it on the chin in week eight, losing to the Hooligans of Dudley Street 40-13, but still have a shot at D1 with a win in week nine and a little help. Laws Of Lalas dropped a 27-16 decision to the Shaolin Mystigods, but is still mathematically in the hunt for promotion. Cánicas is promoted with a win next week. CC United gets the nod with a win against Phoenix, coupled with a Cánicas loss. If both Cánicas and CC United lose, LOL could sneak into second place with a win against Nguyenning.

There’s a scrum at the bottom of the table, with three teams tied with six points. Castle Hill Comets, Dudley Street Hooligans, and Nguyenning each hope to secure one spot to stay in D2. CHC winned against Nguyenning 25-19 to take the point difference edge. CHC faced the Hooligans in week nine. Nguyenning needs a big result against LOL.

Division Three

One could say that the most important race of the Spring season is the race for promotion from division three into division two, to keep alive the chance of winning the tournament at its conclusion. That race was won in week eight by Appleton Aarhus SC and BigGame James, who both clinched promotion. AA beat School of Science 27-19, and now has twelve points. BigGame James had a bye, and remains at twelve points. The third place team with nine points is Grass Pitch Please. GPP beat Glorydaze 31-21, but has a bye in week nine and thus cannot make up the difference. In the other matchup, Another Brek in the Wall was victorious over Surreywood Rangers 21-15.

Indeed, I would be happier if I felt a bit less guilty. I have being
doing terrible, but it seems that everybody have their worst week
precisely when they are playing against me (bringing out the worst
in everybody, that is my gift).

Fortunately this will end this week, when I crush David with an
honest-to-God high score. I have made some significant changes in
my roster, even when I am running very short on transfers. But a
nemesis is a nemesis. Nothing tastes better than Shaolin tears and
crushed hopes (well, maybe hooligan and ginger ones.
Mwahahahaha!)*

* No, I am OK. Not having a stroke (gosh, why do you all have to
judge everything I do?). That, for your information, was a perfectly
crafted sardonic laughter.

Sasha Juniors better come with his A game this
week. I added another max-salary DP to my starting
11. The Weirders won't go down to D2 easily.

No time for tears and crushed hopes, now I've got to
bust arse to chase Cánicas in the First Division to
seek my revenge.

David, if I keep performing in the summer season as I have been
doing in the spring one, if you want revenge you may be safer
waiting for me at the 2nd division instead.

I do not remember ever being this lucky in a competition. Even won
a match after placing second from the bottom that week. Of course
I played against the manager ending last the same week.
