I am happy to welcome nearly everyone back for what will surely be a very exciting MLS and MFLS season. Only one team, the Pioneer Detasslers, did not join us from last year. We welcomed one new team, the School of Science. We also had a few team name changes.

Two teams begin the year by placing in the top twenty-five for fantasy points. Top Shelf took his familiar spot on the top shelf with 41 points, landing in 14th place overall. Next best was the Sehome Mariners with 40/17. As a division we started off fairly well, racking up 18 ADPR points, which puts us in second place behind the AAPL.

For prediction points, we also put two teams on the leaderboard. Dynamo Silver Spring accumulated 37 points, good for third place overall. The Castle Hill Comets (formerly Alewive FC), posted 31 points for 10th place. As a division we were fourth best with 14 ADPR points, well behind La Armada Invencible. I would like to see more Brew City teams participate in the prediction game, so be sure to set your predictions today for tomorrow’s start of week two.

One tournament is already underway, the Open Cup. Several Brew City teams made it past the first round: Redneck SC, Arrows SC, BigGame James, and Weirder Bremen. Unfortunately, seven of us were eliminated.

Remember that each week there will be a Friday night game, so get those picks in! I suggest setting your lineup and making your prediction picks early in the week, and tweak them as the week goes on, so as not to get caught forgetting about that Friday night game.

Thanks for the reminder of Friday games. Tomorrow will be hectic for me so I'll make sure to set my lineup tonight.

Paul, I would not bank on Kemp's return yet.
Also, DC mascot Talon is out for 2-3 weeks. Really!

David, I expect so. Korb could be a good MFLS investment until
Kemp is back. The kid is good and I like the games ahead in the
next few weeks.

Agreed, I've always liked Korb. He really likes to
use his right foot, kinda like I did back in my day.

My coach in college used to refer to my left foot as "el muñón" (the
stump). So, yes, I also liked to use my right foot instead...

I was about to make a joke about naming one's body parts in college, but decided that as the moderator for this forum that it would have been my duty to delete it, so I'll save myself the trouble.

Simply "Castle Hill Comets". No "The". We don't put on airs ...

One team broke into the top twenty-five in week two, Redneck SC with 23 points in 21st place. The odd results for the week tamped down many fantasy scores. Though the season is young, Brew City climbed into first place in ADPR with 24 points, five better than AAPL.

Two teams placed in the top twenty-five in prediction points for the week. Phoenix TS and Arrows SC both scored 15 points and landed in 9th place. As a division we are in fourth place overall as measured by ADPR, six behind the leader AAPL. Interestingly thirty-two teams submitted picks in week one but failed to do so in week two. What made it interesting was that many of those had very high week one scores.

Four Brew City teams advanced through the second round of the Open Cup. These include Redneck SC, Glorydaze, BigGame James, and The Laws of Lalas.

The League Cup will begin on Week three. I haven’t set that up yet but I will before Friday.

How is that a difference for you, Preston? We all know you employ
slave labor to build your lineups. Plus, if now you cannot do it
during the regular dates, maybe you shouldn't have bribed Dan and
Mark (also known as BCFIFA) to get you into the competition to
being with...

PS: yes, Dan and Mark, do not think we didn't notice you driving all
those new sports cars around, and taking all those exotic vacations.
Only reason why I never win any tournaments here: institutionalized
corruption.*

*(And me being poor. Otherwise would be delighted to bribe left
and right)

Brew City teams took the top two spots this week in MFLS. Congratulations go out to Aviators (33 points / 1 place) and Redneck SC (30/2). Two other teams also placed: Dynamo Silver Spring (23/15) and The Laws of Lalas (23/15). As a division we are still perched in first place in ADPR with seven more points than UvW and AAPL.

Only one Brew City team placed in the top twenty-five in prediction points, and that was Phoenix TS with 16/25. As a division we have slid into seventh place overall with 12 ADPR points. The leader is AAPL with 24. Get those picks in!

The Open Cup is down to the quarterfinals. Two Brew City teams have advanced: BigGame James and Redneck SC.

The Mugs O Suds qualification round began on week three. Two Brew City teams advance to the second and final qualification round before the group stage, Castle Hill Comets and Aviators.
There is no Friday game this week, but several MLS players will be out, representing their countries for national team play.
