PHI - COL 4 pm ET
VAN - TOR 6 pm ET
DAL - SJE 8:30 pm ET

SKC - RNY 7 pm ET
SEA - NER 9:30 pm ET

Welcome back all to MFLS. Be sure to have your
Week 1 lineup set and predictions made before 9 PM
ET Friday. Every team has one game.

Have there been any preseason surprises? From what
I've read MON, NYC, HOU, RSL, and SKC have
surprised on the plus side. SEA, DCU, and ORL on
the minus side. I heard RNY have signed Chris
Armas and Dennis Hamlet as ass't coaches, which is
considered a positive move at least by Ives. The
Petke firing wasn't popular but I like Jessie
Marsch. He's from Wisconsin, after all, and a
Princeton man.

Will Nguyen play for NER this week? If not SEA
should handle them with ease.

Any thoughts on Rogers vs. DeLaGarza on D, Keane vs.
Zardes at F, or Ishizaki vs. Husidic vs. Juninho at
M for LAG?

My picks would be:
D - DeLaGarza
F - either or both
M - none

I understand DeLaG is recovering from a bone bruise, may miss the openner.
I read somewhere that Husidic is questionable.
Villarreal is an attractive price but he hasn't broke his maiden yet.

Fernando Aristigueta looks like the real deal, scored a few
goals in two preseason games and gelling well with the team,
might need to make some roster moves to fit him in my MFLS
squad.

why am I reminded of Lucy pulling the football on
Charlie Brown?

I had 3 DCU players on my first roster but find
myself with none now. I'll see if I change my mind
at RFK tomorrow night.

Looking at the weather in philly today and for the rest of the
week it looks like my sons of ben scarf will have practical use
this Saturday, not sure if my steelers parka will fit in but it's still
Pennsylvania so it's all good.

There sure is a lot of preseason info out there
this year. Does anybody remember the early MLS
years when there were only a couple of previews out
there? I particularly remember Jeff Bradley (Bob
B's brother). He was enthusiastic, a good writer,
and a really nice guy but he had a tin ear for
predictions. I posted a note on his preview one
year that he sucked and that was the last year he
did it. I hope I didn't hurt his feelings. I also
told Dave Dirr he was a horrible writer and that
was his last week. People can't take a little
criticism it seems.

I remember being out of town and having to call a friend to find out
the score of a SJ game to see how my team did. Brad Davis had a
goal for me that week IIRC.

I remember seeing that Jeff Bradley had an AOL e-mail so I added him to my AIM list and he was actually on all the time and didn't mind answering my questions. Though always seems like I knew more about lineups ... from bigsoccer, or before bigsoccer from mailing lists like MLSLA

Great news, now can look forward to seeing the game at PPL
Park. Might be snow but that's ok, MLS is back in business.
