This is a fantasy league right? I heard a dream
that one day MLS would me 40 teams. (of course in
my dream they would be in two conferences
promoting and relegating between).
So below is my 40 team MLS league (completely
subjective and unrealistic as some of these places
could never make the $250 million investment plus
stadium work).
Vancouver
2. Calgary
3. Seattle
4. Portland
5. Sacramento
6. San Francisco
7. San Jose
8. Los Angeles Galaxy
9. Los Angeles FC
10. Los Angeles 3
11. San Diego
12. Phoenix
13. Salt Lake City
14. Denver
15. Minneapolis
16. Kansas City
17. St. Louis
18. Oklahoma City
19. Dallas
20. Houston
21. San Antonio
22. Chicago
23. Milwaukee
24. Toronto
25. Toronto 2
26. Ottawa
27. Montreal
28. Columbus
29. Boston
30. Rochester
31. New York Red Bull
32. New York FC
33. Long Island
34. Greensboro
35. Atlanta
36. Philadelphia
37. Washington DC
38. Orlando
39. Miami
40. Tamp Bay |

If 40 teams is the goal. I would like to see Nashville FC be one of them. I would think that MLS would be interested in the unique opportunity that Nashville FC offers as a community owned team. |

And Fort Washington FC, getting ready for the Pennsylvania
Classico Luis so make sure your team is ready |

By then we won't have any transfers left so it will be an even
matchup for the Geo Cup |

Might we then get promotion and relegation? |

Detroit gets no love?? |

I would not consider 3 for LA until it is proven
that they can support two (and do it without the
league bending over backwards to coddle them) |

40 is way too many. 24 might be too many. quality over
quantity. we already have teams with beautiful stadiums that
look empty on TV for many home games (i went to a COL
game v Beckham and the Gals years ago and the place was
half full). expansion should only be for cities with proven
demand like SEA, POR and ORL. instead it is gifted to cities
that either have no/little demand, have failed to put butts in the
seats in the past, or already have teams with less than stellar
attendance records. MLS is growing too fast in my opinion. but
if TB does get the 40th franchise, please God let them be the
Rowdies and not the second coming of the Mutiny. |

I question whether Minneapolis will be successful.
Even though the subsidy request is modest the state
legislature is suffering from stadium fatigue and
many legislators oppose it. Besides that the stadium
location is near a dicey neighborhood and not far
from the Twins and Vikings stadiums. Even the Twins
have been struggling attendance-wise. |

32 teams is inevitable. Garner just said yesterday that he's not
stopping at 24. I could easily seem them taking this too far into
40.
Pro/rel won't ever happen here. Just won't and I don't know
that it needs too. I say stop at 32, split into two 16 real
conferences and have no inter conference play until the
playoffs. Balanced schedule of 30 games. |

As of now only a few more teams (maybe) deserve a bid:
Sacramento, San Antonio, St. Louis, etc. Everyone else needs
to slow down. |

rancho: The team would have more players than the city has
people ... |

Todd, you sold me on the 32 teams/no inter conference/30 games deal. April to October please, with consideration for FIFA windows.
If Indianoplace, er Indianapolis put its mind to it, it could cut in line for serious consideration with a sweet downtown stadium. You listening Beckham? (ha) |

It's my favorite idea thus far. Indianapolis should have a team
actually. 10,000 or so a game right now in NASL? |
