RNY, COL, HOU, and SJE all have two games this
week. Be sure to have your predictions and lineups
set by Wed at 6:30 EST. Note that the week ends
next Tues and Week 10 starts the next day.
DCU-CMB looks like a good game, as does NER-RNY,
though RNY will be coming off of a Wed game and
cross-country travel. LAG's defense appears to be
settling down. They just keep grinding out
results. Yes they have 3 DP's and spend lots of
money but the supporting cast is good, guys like
Gargan, Husidic, Gordon, Tommy Meyer, all have
contributed. That could be the difference between
them and under-performing Toronto, though they
showed signs of life with a win in Orlando last
night.

Where was Hamid last weekend? |

Counting the days until the open cup, channelling the DC
United 2013 season where they were terrible in the league but
won the open cup. We made it to the final last year so now we
need to take the next step. |

Hamid dealing with a thigh contusion. I expect him
next week myself, fwtw. |

So no big ... theoretically.
Still going with Peneda at home vs COL, rather than Hamid
having to deal with CMB ... |

A message from Westeros to NCL:
Winter has passed and the Knightmare has ended. A Storm is
coming. |

Is the party over for RSL and J. Morales? They sure
got blown out by NER. |
from Shaolin Mystigods on Mon 4/27 18:28 ET Reply to This Message |
could be, but it is material to point out that
absent from the NER blowout were Jamison Olave, Joao
Plata, Sebastian Saucedo, Jordan Allen, Chris
Schuler, Sebastian Jaime and one Javier Morales |

Not to mention Jason Kreis ... |

Morales supposedly stays in great shape but he's
getting long in the tooth. Maybe he should talk to
Preki. Preki played into his early 40's IIRC. |

Was Valeri on the Portland bench last match? |
from Weirder Bremen on Tue 4/28 8:15 ET Reply to This Message |
Valeri was on the bench but he isn't listed in the
18. He's practicing though. |

The problem with Portland:
Lacking Valeri the only person that seems to be able to create offense is Nagbe, and if you watch his play he receives the ball and multiple defenders close on him. Foul him and end the play.
Lacking effective wing play, or any other player that can create, the timbers offense has sputtered all year so far.
Watching the Portland Seattle game on the weekend was an eye opener.
Compare against Seattle who have the luxury of three extremely dangerous players Poppa, Dempsey, and Martins. In transition when Seattle is most dangerous it seems when Martins receives the ball (if he does not torch both center backs solo) he opens up space for Dempsey, who, if he gets closed down, opens space for Poppa and Nagle. |
