I would say my opinion began to turn with the Brian Straus article leading up to the snow game. Then took a negative turn when the things in that article came true when we had a series of non-contact fatigue injuries in the World Cup.

I would say that the LD issue was not that he was left off the squad. But the mind games and crappy way the coach treated one of the best players the US has ever had.

At this point, with the full national team squad, the US has regressed. Writers like Brian Straus/Matt Doyle/Grant Wahl have said it way better than I can.

But with Sunil Gulati in charge, Klinsman has no worries.

The quality of the players in the player pool
varies over time. The present squad may not be as
good as past squads. Altidore has deteriorated. We
could use a Brian McBride. Julian Green isn't
Donovan. The defense is in disarray. Carlos
Bocanegra is gone. Is there a Claudia Reyna on the
team? That could be part of the problem.

You may be right about Jozy but I think the jury is still out. He's only 25, somewhat injury prone, maybe a bit high-maintenance, but watch out if the stars align for him.

Maybe tonight?
Jozy is a Scorpio.
"On Saturday, harmonious Venus in your eleventh house of dreams forms a tough angle to restrictive Saturn in your routine sector, insisting that you get real about your ambitious aims."
translation: be ready for service from Dempsey and don't try to carry the team on your back.
not bad eh?

I think Jozy still has value, has been a rocky road for him in
past years but I think he is still one of our best strikers when
healthy. At least he is on Toronto now instead of that mess of a
club at Sunderland which has helped him mentally also.

Mexico has had ebbs and flows in their talent pool
as well. They tend to stick with players past
their sell by date but change coaches too much.
Changing coaches too often hurts long-term
development and deters some coaches from taking
the job. I think that's part of Gulati's thinking.

My brother in law bought a bunch of tickets for us and his
family (who all went to ND), hopefully good seats. Sports
analysts are giving Temple a 20% chance to win, it will be a
long shot but their chances are better now than ever. Either
way I'm wearing my Temple jersey and hoping the Owls will
pull off the biggest upset in their 100+ year history. The Owls
soccer team is doing well this year also but the football
program is really taking a big leap of progress this year,
possible major bowl if they can keep the undefeated streak
going.

Can't wait for the game tonight, should be a great match and I
think we will win by two (dos a cero would be ideal but any win
will be our ticket to the confed cup). We also need this win to
balance out the lousy result from the U23s, can't believe they
lost to Honduras and now have a harder path to Rio.

well, we certainly won the pre-game tifo war. did you see that "to russia with love" homage? complete with hammer and sickle? was it currently politically accurate? no. but it was hilarious.
