MFLS week 1 is Matchday 1 in the AAPL. It is going to be interesting.

Capital League

*Match of the week*
Unclean Sheets at Hounds FC - Two clubs with high aspirations meet up in week one and neither manager would want this matchup so early. But, here we are. Who will take the first step forward?

Hanscom United at Lowbrow Wanderers SC - Will United be ready for the step up in class? We will find out soon enough.

Carnival FC at Mattylip FC - Another new side in the top flight against a team that has never gone down. Is Mattylip FC ready for the top flight?

Seattle SC at KC Frostbite - Two solid clubs that will both be looking to start the new year off right. This one is a toss up.

VFL Huskers at 3Rivers SC - Huskers have a tough first week draw at the champions, 3Rivers SC. Nothing like taking on the top team to start the year off.

Dynamo Salem at Causmos - 2004 Champs Dynamo Salem are looking for a return to glory and the road starts here. However, Causmos are hungry and will not make it easy.

Hanscom City at Low Expectations - Two new sides in the top flight, but only one will start the season off right. Who will it be?

Stanton Park FC at Blackburn Rovers FC - Stanton Park are back in the big time. It was a shock demotion for the club two years ago, but they came back quickly. Will the investment in the club pay off with a big match at Rovers this week?

I have been looking for a return to glory for like eight years. Had a hard time this year fitting players I thought could produce under the salary cap.

Isn't Carnival v. Mattylip the two that won our cups last year (Carnival AAPL Open Cup and Mattylip Iroquois)

There is a correction, Tim.

For the Seattle SC vs. KC Frostbite matchup, you mentioned
"Two Solid Clubs."

I know that KC Frostbite is a solid club...

I need the season to start. I have changed my squad about a hundred times. I think I am happy and then I come up with another idea I want to try. I think I am done now. But, you know how it is. I'm probably not.

You're right, John. Being the best at finishing 2nd is definitely something other than "solid" ...

In the six major AAPL competitions (non-rivalry or forum cups):

Supporters Cup: 2nd in 2014
Prediction: 2nd in 2014
Capital League: 2nd in 2013
Colonial League: 2nd two times (also won it in 2012)
Open Cup: 2nd in 2006 and 2009
Iroqouis: Never 2nd but did lose in SF's last year

Colonial League

***Match of the Week***
Mizzo FC at Damn Dirty Apes - Mizzo just came down from the Capital League and will be looking for a quick return. However, Damn Dirty Apes were the highest ranked team that didn't get promoted. They will not want that title again.

Hampton Strikers at Retro Dog FC - Two second year clubs that will be looking for bigger and better things in 2015. The road starts here.

Redbull Empire FC at FC Bayern Tampa - Will Bayern finally right the ship and go back to the big time? Or will it be another season to forget?

FC Orlando 98 at Las Vegas Childish Gambinos - FC Orlando has nowhere to go but up. Last season was a season to forget and they will look to take out their frustrations on new boys, Las Vegas.

Danville Dynamo at Flatbush SC - Two new sides that will be looking to take the league by storm. Not much is known about the sides, but that is just the way they like it.

Golden Gophers FC at Gamblers FC - The new look Gamblers are looking for consistency this year. They feel like it could be their year, but first year side Golden Gophers will be no push over and will look to start strong.

Portland Red Tide at Newport FC - Newport showed flashes of brilliance and were in the hunt for promotion last year. They will look to accomplish that goal this year. However, Portland Red Tide are looking for a return to the big time. Their 2006 title seems so long ago. The supporters expect more from this club.

FC Hanscom at Tennessee FC - Two more new sides in the league this year that will be looking to make a splash on opening night. Someone will take a step forward and someone will be making adjustments. The question is who it will be.

FC Bayern will not only right the ship, but we will sink all ships in our way. The FC Bayern U-Boat is about to get set loose!

Only 8 MLS teams are represented on my week 1 roster. That will probably be an issue but as much as I like who I have I'm sure it'll look different in a couple weeks.
